I've received suggestions from DSS staff that it would be helpful to have a regular forum for staff who have fiscal duties to discuss current and future financial challenges. In that spirit, I would like to introduce the DSS Financial Forum, in order to provide a venue for staff to discuss financial issues with their peers and set up a strong divisional network to solve problems and identify areas that need to be improved. I'll provide the computer and projector so we can see samples of online systems. Please feel free to bring copies of financial reports or any details that you want to discuss.
The forum will not replace the monthly Academic Affairs Fiscal Group or the Academic Affairs Fiscal Officers Advisory Group (FOAG) which has developed a new training program designed for fiscal staff in Academic Affairs, with plans to enroll our first set of participants in Fall 2010. The Financial Management Academy (FMA) is designed to supplement existing courses taught through Staff Education and Development and will provide fiscal staff with a solid foundation of knowledge of a broad range of UCSD financial functions.
